A Message From Josh

A Message From Josh

03:35

There will not be a new Tomorrow episode this week. The reason? Thanksgiving. Like all Americans, including the great Donald Trump, Josh is taking time to be with his family and reflect on the many wonderful things he has been so lucky to receive in his life. Like his bow and arrow set, that small hat he wears only on Wednesdays, and a lifetime "all you can eat" card from Dairy Queen. This week off will also allow Josh time to recharge his batteries, both the ones he uses in his pacemaker, as well as the metaphorical batteries which power his soul. Or whatever is powering Josh, because he still doesn't believe in souls even after watching "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" twice in the theater. But you get the point. We'll be back with more new Tomorrow next week. In the meantime, why not take a load off and Whip The Dip™ with your whole family? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 32: Sam Biddle Wags the Valley

01:04:46

Sam Biddle – senior writer at Gawker and all around bon vivant – is a man who knows how to attract controversy. He sits down with Josh in a bedroom of a strange and possibly haunted mansion in upstate New York to discuss the thankless work of covering the dark side of Silicon Valley startups, the increasing toxicity of the internet, the mysterious appeal of Fallout 4, and the difference between Breitbart and Stormfront (spoiler: not much). Along the way Sam and Josh find a friendship that will last a lifetime, or at least until Sam puts Josh in the spotlight for being a snake oil salesman who's too busy getting high on his own supply to see the damage he's doing to the crafting industry. Katie Notopoulos is a senior editor at Buzzfeed, co-host of Buzzfeed’s Internet Explorer podcast, and also just happens to be Josh’s sister-in-law. The pair compare notes about their parent’s quirks, examine a phenomenon called “The Topolsky wife,” discuss whether or not having sex with your clone would be a good idea, and outline the evolution of digital photography before and after social media. Also, Katie shares an underwhelming anecdote about Magnus, the producer of this podcast, who we should mention is from Sweden.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Matias Duarte is one of the most important and influential designers in technology, particularly when it comes to mobile. He's also a VP at Google leading up some of the company's biggest and boldest design efforts. He joins Josh in the studio for a thorough discussion on his process, the evolution of the smartphone, how you make hard design decisions, what part he played in the recent redesign of the Google logo... and so much more. It would be enough to just hear these two go deep on the way things work (and how they look doing it), but there's even a bit of news buried in this engaging and enlightening episode. Do not miss it. This week, comedian and writer Sara Schaefer sits down with Josh to discuss her incredibly varied resumé and struggle against a patriarchal society hellbent on keeping a good woman down. Grab a cup of whatever it is you're drinking (we won't judge), and settle in for a stark look at world you can only begin to imagine. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Episode 25: Anil Dash Takes on The Fonz

Episode 25: Anil Dash Takes on The Fonz

01:47:58

Josh and internet powerhouse Anil Dash sat down for a nearly two-hour interview, covering a myriad of thrilling topics. Diversity in tech, British imperialism through the lens of The Beatles, and what "Happy Days" was really about are just a small taste of topics covered in the show. Even more shocking? This podcast was a do-over from a previously recorded episode, thanks to an emotionally damaged and ultimately corrupt file. For a sprawling look at the past, present, and future of being digital, look no further. This is Tomorrow at its finest — don't sit it out. Learn more about your ad choices.
